James spent ten days in India working with the CEE team drafting a Stage One proposal for the Darwin Initiative. The Darwin Initiative is one of the UK Governments most successful funds. Projects have supported biodiversity initiatives over the last 20 years! S&S and CEE put forward a project looking at conserving biodiversity of farming areas in Gujarat – the uptake of GM cotton has devastated flora and fauna with drops of over 70% being recorded. Our project aims to support farmers growing more traditional crops. James also took the opportunity to collect data to support his teaching in the UK and hopefully it will lead to a publication comparing UK and Indian Cities.
