Year 1

Mudchute City Farm

We had a great time at Mudchute City Farm. The children in Butterfly class enjoyed a fun filled day at the farm where we saw pigs, walked and groomed Shetland ponies, fed goats and even danced liked chickens!

Thank you to all the parents that came. You were all very brave feeding the cows!

Butterflies Class Assembly

Butterflies did a great job with their class assembly today. Thank you for coming to watch. If you missed it, here’s the video for you. Great performance Butterfly class. Very impressed!

Investigating with Numicon is Fun

We have been exploring various ways to make 10. We used Numicon plates to help us. We had to think about which numbers add up to 10. Some of us found number bonds using 2 Numicon plates, whilst others explored using more than 2 plates.

After, we had a go at writing our addition sums. We are finding this part a bit tricky but we are doing really well.

Look at our videos to show you how we explored and found our own sums to 10.

Red Nose Day 2015

What a fantastic day! Everyone looked rosy in red!

The talent show proved what fantastic talents we have at St Paul’s. A special well done to the Butterfly Girls, Liza, Mersiha, Ella, Bethany, Amreen and Lacey for not only being brave enough to stand in front of a huge hall of people but for singing so loudly and clearly that they won the competition out of all the groups! WELL DONE! Your hard work and practice paid off. Here is a video of it in case you were unable to make it.

Thank you for all those that donated to the charity.

Happy Mother’s Day

To all the mothers of Butterfly class, we wish you a very happy day.

Thank you from all the Butterfly children.

World Book Day

Butterfly class have been book worms today. We took part in the whole school read in the morning, where every child read a book at the same time. After, we wrote our own maths stories using pictures and subtraction sums. Later, we watched Mr Rubin and Mr Bennett’s video and decided we should make some healthy eating posters to ensure there is no unhealthy food eaten at St Paul’s!
The children looked fantastic in their character costumes. Well done with all the effort and keep reading!!’

Pancake Day

Butterfly class loved making and eating pancakes! As part of our R.E curriculum we have been learning about Lent and Shrove Tuesday. The children thought really carefully about something they would find difficult to give up for 40 days.

“I would give up sugary cereal” said Bethany.

“I would stop having cups of tea!” said Amreen.

Investigating Sizes

In Maths we have been investigating sizes. We have explored different words to describe size (short, tall, tallest). We have also worked in small groups to compare our own heights. We did this by drawing around each other.

Story Telling Week

This week has been so much fun. In Butterfly class we have been reading lots of new stories and creating some of our own.
As a class we re-wrote ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ by Michael Rosen. The children decided what kind of hunt we would go on. What we would see and the sounds each would make. We then performed it as a whole class.

Well done Butterfly class. Very imaginative.

Nativity Dress Rehearsal

Here is our Dress Rehearsal if you couldn’t make it today…Well done again to every single one of you. What stars you all are. Thank you for all those that helped make the Nativity so special. Merry Christmas!
