What have year two been up to?

We like to share our learning on Twitter. We often tweet multiple times a day.

Please click here to see what we have been learning.

Year 1 Bead-string Workshop

Children in Year 1 enjoyed having Parents and Carers, at the workshop!  They were given the opportunity to become familiar with the expectations in Numeracy, and learnt how to support with Addition in class and at home with the aid of, our bead-strings, counting bears and number lines. The work-shop focussed on using a variety of counting methods including; the use of bead-strings, number lines, groups of objects and also money. We’d like to thank Parents and Carers for their continued support. Watch this space for part 2 next week, on Subtraction!

Teddy Bear Hospital

On Wednesday we had an exciting visit from Doctors, Nurses and Dentists. The children took their cuddly toys along and found out about how to stay fit and healthy.

IPC trip to The Toy Museum

Year 1 had an exciting start to their IPC topic, the ‘Magic Toymaker’ by going to visit the Toy Museum in Bethnal Green. We sketched toys from the past and found out about how moving toys worked.

Eid Celebrations

Year 1 celebrated Eid (Eid Al-Adha-feast of the sacrifice) in style; coming into school in our special clothes & sharing lots of traditional (and healthy) foods & snacks. We listened to the story of Ibrahim and his willingness to sacrifice his only son, Ismail.

Transition to Year 1

Meet our lovely Year 1 Class! In the first part of Autumn, we having been learning & having fun through ‘transition’ from Reception Class to Year 1.

We have been solving problems & puzzles, computing, mark making, writing letters & postcards, using Lego to build and construct, and also the odd bit of baking!

Our end of year trip to the Seaside!

Last Wednesday the Caterpillars and Butterflies went on our end of year trip to Chalkwell Beach. All of the children were incredibly excited! We had to catch the train from Fenchurch Street and then we got off 10 stops later at Chalkwell Beach.

The children all wore their summer clothes and brought their buckets and spades. We all had a brilliant day!

The Early Years Team would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents that helped us on the trip, without your support we would not have been able to go so THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Dinosaur Roar!!!!

Last week it was our class assembly. We have been learning all about Dinosaurs so the children told the audience some Dinosaur facts and then they acted out the story ‘Dinosaur Roar’. After the story the children sang a song about a scary T-Rex. All of the children took part and gave amazing performances. It was a brilliant class assembly. Well done Butterflies!

Our trip to the Docklands Museum

Last week the Butterfly Class went on a trip to the Docklands Museum. We met a special lady called Lizzie who told us all about the seaside. She acted out a brilliant story and pretended to go back in time. She transported us to the seaside 100 years ago. She told us all about what clothes and swimming costumes people used to wear. She talked about the funfair and the rides that people used to go on. One was called a Helter Skelter it looked like so much fun. Then she showed us a Punch and Judy show. This was very very funny and made us all laugh. Lizzie told us that a long time ago at the seaside you would often find children working on the beach. She told us a story about a little girl who used to find shells and then sell them to try and earn money for her family. We learnt so much about the seaside.

We then got to have a go in the Mud Larks Gallery which is a play area. The children all had a brilliant time. We can’t wait for our trip to the seaside next week!

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to all of the parents that helped us on the trip. We really appreciate your support.

Happy Fathers Day!

The Butterflies would like to say Happy Fathers Day to all of their Dads. We hope you all have a lovely day!
