Road Safety Workshop

Today, Y3 received a visit from the Tower Hamlets Road Safety Team. Children had the chance to look at traffic equipment, use CCTV cameras and ask questions about road safety. With nearly 2000 children injured each year crossing roads around schools, this was an important opportunity to raise awareness of the dangers posed by cars parked near schools on zig-zag lines.

Kitchen Garden Project

Recently, we were making bread which involved using yeast. In class we thought about microorganism and what food would help yeast reproduce the most. Using chocolate spread and honey from our bees, we conducted an experiment to capture the gas given off by yeast when it reproduces. By measuring the balloons we could work out which food had helped the yeast to reproduce the most.

Y3 Literacy

This week we started a new topic – Diary Recounts. We are using Neil Gaiman’s book; ‘The Day I Swapped My Dad  For Two Goldfish’ to show how to recount events. Today, the children came up with short, improvised sketches to show the problems that can occur when we swap items with our friends.
