SWORD COMMUNITY: dance,dance, dance!

Using our bodies in worship is sadly neglected, but ultimately rewarding. Ask anyone who’s been to Foundations.

We have been blessed over the last few years to be associated with Ginnie White and her marvellous Sh’ma Kingdom Dancers. They have blessed so many people through their workshops and the evidence has been the number of people set free and empowered at our conferences through Hebraic dance.

To understand more about such dance let us first compare it with other forms of dance. Folk dancing is a social activity performed for personal enjoyment. Israeli dancing is a form of folk dancing with Hebraic elements, but again performed for personal enjoyment. But Davidic or Hebraic dancing is different. It is performed as an act of worship, for individual dancers but also for the observers. It is danced primarily for the glory of God.

There are set steps and positions in Hebraic dance. Each is significant and shows a different aspect of worship to God. All steps have meaning and so are performed in a gesture of worship to God. This is not personal expression, a feature of most forms of modern dance, but rather a calculated expression of devotion to the Divine.

At Foundations, Ginnie and her team offer an invitation that anyone (including men!) can dance and they will work in accordance to the limitations of the ‘raw material’. Age is no barrier, we have seen participants from toddlers to eighty-somethings and each have contributed in ways that is just perfect for them!  The end result is always impressive and moving and you can view an example at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dr Wl-fdRSc4 .

On their website the Sh’ma Kingdom Dancers describe themselves as a prophetic worship and dance group for the ‘one new man’ – in Yeshua (Jesus). There are DVDs of their performances there that you can purchase. Find out more at: http://www.shma-kingdomdancers.co.uk

THE SWORD COMMUNITY
Sword magazine is closely allied to the Foundations family, run by the Saltshakers web ministry (www.saltshakers.com). This is a growing national community of like-minded Bible believers, drawn together through the Foundations conferences that have been held all over the country since 2012. This is a community page not only to highlight ministries that have become a part of Foundations, but also to encourage you to interact with us through our conferences and web pages
