Who can we trust?

Fake news and questionable theologies abound. How can we navigate with confidence? (SWORD COMMUNITY)

For the last few years there has been a service offered by the Saltshakers website that has proven a lifeline for many.

In the old days we had very few news and information sources. It started with the daily newspapers, where you picked the editorial line that you felt most comfortable with. Then came the two TV channels, followed by a third, then a fourth and a fifth, until satellites, cable and broadband brought us a plethora of alternatives, literally running now to tens of thousands, if we include blogs, social media and video channels. How on earth do we mere mortals navigate through that lot and get news stories that we can trust? There’s a simple answer … curation, someone you can trust selects them for you.

Saltshakers offers a fresh news story every day. These would be of interest to the kind of Christian who reads Sword magazine and would come from news sources such as the Christian Institute, Christian Concern, the Times of Israel and Premier Online. Similarly, a YouTube feature video is displayed daily, safe and informative, the sort of videos that you would want to watch, if you had the time and the expertise to find them. They are chosen to feed your soul through words or music, to provoke you, amuse you or just inform you. We just find the very best on offer, to save you the time and the bother!

The news articles are aggregated weekly and sent out as an email newsletter every Saturday and the feature videos likewise every Tuesday. To receive these just drop an email to steve@saltshakers.com
